7. How important would you rate International exchange?
For me I would say International exchange has been immensely important. It is important to any artist who is involved and interested in arts to know about other cultures. Learning about other cultures is also valuable to gain perspective on American values and the arts in America. Travelling in other places and other cultures is a way to understand alternatives and help set goals for changing the way we live and work.
It is certainly possible to look beyond our borders without traveling there, but then you are looking through someone else’s eyes. While I am eager to share my thoughts and tell others about the places I’ve been, I would encourage any really interested person to experience these things directly.
