Works produced at the Network 2008 program at the International Ceramics Research Center, Guldagergaard. This work has been brought to you by a grant from the Lighton International Artists Exchange Program!My statement from the Network 2007/2008 catalog;
“Nature and culture offer insight to perceptions of control and order. When I look at a tree I can see there is a pattern, but I can’t say exactly what it is. I recreate this feeling using processes to emulate natural forces. Geometric forms of the manufactured world, on the other hand, have simple, mathematical formulas.
Comparisons of the two, naturalistic and geometric, initially seem to insist on a vast difference. Yet both are ordered – the distinction is between subtle complexity and brutal simplicity.”
